Materials

Top materials

At Marbres Pellicer, we supply all types of stone for virtually any domestic project, as well as for a wide range of commercial projects.

When choosing a material for a worktop or any other project, it is essential to consider several key factors:

  • Aesthetic value: design, colour, finish and how it fits with the surrounding space.
  • Practical application: working environment, intensity of use and ease of maintenance.
  • Technical parameters: porosity, durability, heat resistance and resistance to scratches and stains.
  • Cost considerations: value for money and longevity of the material.

Below you will find information on our most popular materials.

Natural stone

Because every slab is a unique piece created by nature over millions of years, natural stone products are prized for their authenticity, character and exclusivity.

Marble

Features

A metamorphic rock prized for its distinctive veining and exceptional polishing ability, giving it an unrivalled luminosity.

Source

We work with materials from Italy, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil and India. Spain has varieties with international renown, such as Rojo Alicante and, in particular, Crema Valencia (quarried in Barxeta) — a warm-toned material with a classic elegance that is close to home.

Applications

Thanks to its elegance and natural beauty, marble is an excellent choice for a wide range of projects, particularly in bathrooms, but also for flooring, wall cladding and staircases.

Maintenance

As it is porous, we recommend cleaning up spills from strong liquids (oil, wine, citrus) promptly. Use mild, pH-neutral soaps and avoid acids. We also recommend applying a water-repellent sealant periodically.

Granite

Features

Granite is an igneous rock of great hardness, composed of quartz, feldspar and mica. It is extremely resistant to scratches, household acids and, above all, direct heat.

Source

Granite comes from a variety of sources. We use a great deal of granite from Spanish quarries, and our customers also choose imported materials from Italy, India and Brazil.

Applications

Granite is an excellent choice for kitchen worktops, bathrooms, flooring and wall cladding. It is also a popular material for outdoor projects.

Maintenance

Granite is one of the easiest materials to maintain. A regular clean with water and soap is all it needs. It can withstand direct contact with hot pots and pans, though we recommend using trivets to keep the finish looking its best for longer.

Artificial Stone

Engineered stone (also known as “artificial stone”) is an advanced material engineered to provide non-porous surfaces, guaranteeing maximum hygiene and stain resistance. It offers a design flexibility that natural stone sometimes cannot, particularly when it comes to solid colours and cutting-edge textures.

Quartz Composites

Features

Quartz composites are made primarily from natural quartz minerals (approximately 90–94%) blended with high-durability resins. The result is a surface of great hardness with exceptional resistance to impact and staining.

Applications

Along with porcelain and granite, it is one of the most widely used materials for kitchen worktops. Being more affordable than some other materials, it is also well suited to a wide range of other applications, including bathrooms and outdoor spaces.

Maintenance

Quartz requires minimal maintenance, a wipe with a damp cloth is usually all it needs. No sealing is required. It is important to avoid placing pots or pans taken directly from the heat onto the surface, as excessive heat can damage the resins.

Porcelain

Features

Porcelain slabs are manufactured through a sintering process that replicates in a matter of hours what nature takes millennia to create, using minerals subjected to extreme pressure and temperature. The result is an ultra-compact surface that is unaffected by UV rays, fire and even the most severe scratching.

Popular brands

Applications

Porcelain is suitable for both high-performance kitchen worktops and outdoor applications.

Maintenance

Porcelain requires only normal cleaning. It is resistant to almost all household cleaning products and will not burn or scratch, making it the most practical material for everyday life.
